REDcard®
-
Target REDcard allows you to save even more at Target stores in Canada every day. REDcard includes the Target ® Debit Card and Target ® RBC‡ MasterCardTM, and guests who use their REDcard for purchases at Target will save 5%* on nearly all purchases at Target, on top of Target’s already low prices. *Subject to REDcard application approval. Some restrictions apply. See program rules for more details.
REDcard -
Starting in February, 2013, you’ll be able to apply online at Target.ca/REDcard for the Target Debit Card and the Target RBC MasterCard. You’ll also be able to apply for the Target RBC MasterCard at your local RBC Royal Bank branch.
When the stores open starting in spring 2013, you’ll be able to apply at your local Target store as well.
REDcard -
The Target® RBC‡ MasterCard® is a credit card issued by RBC Royal Bank of Canada. You can use it wherever MasterCard credit cards are accepted. Besides saving 5%* when you use it at Target stores in Canada, you will also earn Target GiftCard Rewards when using your Target RBC MasterCard outside of Target.
The Target Debit Card allows you to pay from your existing chequing account and can be used only when you shop at Target stores in Canada. Like the Target RBC MasterCard, you’ll save 5%* on our already low prices, but you can only use the Target Debit Card at Target stores in Canada**. The Target Debit Card is issued by Target Canada Co.
*Subject to REDcard application approval. Some restrictions apply. See program rules for details.
** The Target Debit Card cannot be used at some independent businesses in Target stores, such as the pharmacy.
-
No, the Target Debit Card and Target RBC MasterCard do not have an annual fee. There may be other fees, but each card will include terms and conditions that clearly explain fees and other terms.
-
Like a bank card, the Target Debit Card is convenient, but there are a few notable differences.
The Target Debit Card is issued by Target Canada Co. instead of a bank. You do not need to open a new chequing account. Using a pre-authorized debit process, you link the Target Debit card directly to your existing chequing account.
To use the Target Debit Card to make a purchase at Target, you will enter a PIN to authorize the purchase. The amount of the purchase will be deducted from your existing chequing account within a few business days.
You can only use the Target Debit Card at Target stores in Canada.**
** The Target Debit Card cannot be used at some independent businesses in Target stores, such as the pharmacy.
-
Unlike traditional bank-issued debit cards, the Target Debit Card does not process through the Interac system.
Target Debit Card holders will sign a Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) agreement as part of their application. By signing the PAD when you apply, and then using the Target Debit Card, and a PIN to make a purchase at Target, you authorize Target to deduct the transaction amount from your chequing account using Automated Funds Transfer (AFT) processing.
Because these are pre-authorized debits, you are responsible for ensuring there are sufficient funds available in your chequing account. If a transaction is declined by your financial institution, we may require a $30 service charge.
-
No, the Target Debit Card can be used with your existing Canadian bank chequing account.
-
Target can only access from your chequing account for the purpose of processing transactions you made at Target with your Target Debit Card. On applying for the card, you’ll fill out a pre-authorized debit form which gives Target this access.
-
Target does not charge any fees for debit card transactions other than a service charge of $30 if your bank returns a non-payable transaction to us. Please contact your bank to inquire about any fees they may charge related to chequing account transactions processed by a pre-authorized debit agreement.

Coupons

-
Your printed coupons will include an expiration date and are good through the end of the day specified.
-
If a Target Store didn’t accept your valid printed coupon, please contact us.
-
Coupons found on Target.ca are redeemable only in Canada Target stores.
-
Selecting and printing coupons from Target.com is easy. Just follow these steps:
- Make sure your default printer has paper and is ready to print.
- If this is your first time printing online coupons, you may be prompted to download a plug-in. The plug-in is provided by Oracle or Apple Inc. and you will be prompted to install this plug-in if your computer does not have Java installed or if your version of Java is outdated. Once installed, you can print future coupons without additional downloads (although you might be asked to re-grant permission if you’ve had browser updates, cleared cookies, etc).
- Look for the coupons you want, check the box below the coupon and then click the Print button.
-
Plug-ins are software programs that extend the capabilities of your browser and other applications. For example, plug-ins give you the ability to play audio files, see movies, view documents in a certain format, or print coupons from your personal computer.
-
A printer is required to print our internet (print-at-home) coupons.
-
Coupons are valuable; that’s why we require secure controls for distribution and printing of coupons. Java is a small browser plug-in that is used by thousands websites around the world. It has been tested and is released by Oracle Corporation or Apple Inc., for Mac computer users. Additionally, it enables high-quality coupon prints that will scan easily at checkout. Installation is quick and easy, simply follow the step-by-step instructions. Once installed, you can print future coupons without additional downloads (although you might be asked to re-grant permission if you’ve had browser updates, cleared cookies, etc).
-
We pride ourselves on providing a secure way to print coupons. In order to make sure that your computer is safe and secure, we recommend that you use the latest version of Java released by Oracle Corporation or Apple Inc.
-
Once you install Java on your computer through your browser, a small program, called an applet, is run in order to securely print your coupon. This applet is NOT installed on your computer. Instead, your browser allows this applet to run ONLY when printing coupons. This is necessary because coupons are valuable and secure distribution of these coupons is necessary. In addition, we want to make sure that your coupons print properly and our Java applet is the mechanism that allows this to happen. If you receive a message that asks you to ALLOW access to this applet while printing a coupon, you must click ALLOW to continue the printing process.
-
Yes. The print at home coupon Java plug-in has been engineered to run on both Windows and Mac computers. Our specific coupon applet which is loaded only during the print process and not installed on your computer is safe and has been tested thoroughly. You should not allow third party Java applets to run on your computer unless you know it is from a trusted source. Our coupon applet was designed specifically for the purpose of allowing you to print coupons.
-
No. However, installation is quick and easy. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions. Once installed, you can print future coupons without additional downloads.

If you’re having issues downloading or installing the Coupon Print Activator, it may be for one of the following reasons:
-
You don’t have a supported operating system or browser. At this time, the Coupon Print Activator is supported by the following operating systems and browsers:
- Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 when used with any of the following browsers: Internet Explorer 6.x and above, Chrome 21 and above and Firefox 14.x and above.
- Windows 7 or above running a 64bit OS version may encounter issues printing as this is currently unsupported.
- Mac OS X 10.5.8 and above when used with any of the following browsers: Safari 5.x and above, Firefox 14.x and above. Chrome 21.x or above will work on some Mac computers, however there is a known conflict on Mac OS X 10.7.5 and above that will not allow Java to be run in any version of the Chrome browser.
- You are required to have Java installed on all of the above operating systems and Java enabled in all of the above browsers. It is highly recommended that the java version be updated to the most current version or recommended version from Apple.com or Oracle Corporation.
- Coupon printing is not supported under Linux, Unix, mobile smartphones including iPhones, Android phones and tablets, Apple tablets, or Web TV platforms.
Note:
Java is updated from time to time by both Oracle Corporation and Apple, Inc. to meet newer OS and browser version. You should also make sure your computer has the most up to date software on it. You can learn more about this by visiting Java.com (owned and run by Oracle Corporation) or Apple.com (http://support.apple.com/downloads/). “Beta” operating systems and/or browsers are not supported. If you have a compatible operating system, you can download a supported browser from the following sites:
-
If you’re using a supported browser and operating system, there are still a variety of other settings that may prevent you from downloading Java and printing coupons. Some of these conditions are:
- You’re on a networked computer that doesn’t allow plug-in downloads (a corporate office environment).
- You are on a computer where you are not allowed to install plugins or run applications or are not logged in as the administrator to your computer. If you have administration rights, please login as the administrator and follow the instructions for your particular browser and operating system.
- If you’re running a firewall application on your computer such as Norton Personal Firewall or McAfee Personal Firewall, or any other virus/firewall protection program, the installation may not work. Please check the user guide for your anti-virus or firewall software to learn how to temporarily allow for browser plug-in installations and provide permission for the Coupon Print Activator to communicate over the Internet.
- You have pop-up blocker on either your browser or separate security software that prevents you from seeing the browser pop-up to install the Coupon Print Activator plug-in.
- You do not have the latest version of Java on your machine. Please visit Java.com or
- http://support.apple.com/downloads
to download the most up to date version of Java.
-
You don’t have a supported operating system or browser. At this time, the Coupon Print Activator is supported by the following operating systems and browsers:
-
"Cookies" are small files saved to your computer by your browser. They enable us to recognize your computer without requiring you to login. Your browser enables you to fully control "cookies". Please refer to your browser’s help feature to learn more about "cookies". Many browsers offer the ability to accept or decline a cookie on a case-by-case basis. Please note that if "cookies" are turned off within your browser, you may not be able to benefit from all of the features on our site.
-
I’m having difficulty installing the Coupon Print Activator on a public-use computer. What can I do?
If you’re trying to access and download the Coupon Print Activator from a public computer, for example a machine in the county library, the security settings may be configured in such a way that does not allow you administrative rights. Check with the network administrator to see if the settings can be changed.
-
It’s common in many work places to not have administrative rights to your computer, check with your Network Administrator to see if you can be granted access to download the activator.
-
If the Coupon Print Activator software plug-in was installed properly, your operating system and browser are supported, and you have not exceeded the coupon print limit, but you were still unable to print coupons, check the following:
- Is Java enabled in your specific browser? Please check the help section or menu within your browser to find out where you can make sure Java is enabled in that browser.
- Is your printer turned on? Make sure your printer is on and try printing the coupon again.
- Is there sufficient paper? Double check your paper supply and try printing the coupon again.
- Is the printer properly connected to your computer? Check the cable connection between your computer and your printer, and try printing the coupon again.
- Is your default printer where you’re expecting your printed coupon? If you have multiple printers connected to your computer (for example, as part of network), check to see if your current default printer is the printer where you expected to get your coupon print out. You can check the setting in your Control Panel/Printers and Faxes on Windows computers, and in your System Preferences/Print Fax on Mac computers.
- Are the status lights on the printer indicating problems? Often, if your printer is experiencing problems, an error message or indicator light may be flashing on your printer. Please refer to your owner’s manual to fix the printer’s problem, and then try printing the coupon again.
- Are you printing to the right printer device setting? You may not print to fax machines or file-based print commands (i.e. Adobe Acrobat) or other programs that create PDFs or image files. Please check your printer setting to make sure your default printer is a regular printer. If you have a multifunction printer (fax, copy, print), please make sure that the printer is set as the default function on your computer.
-
Given that coupons are valuable, some offers have a limit as to how many times a coupon may be printed by the same guest/household, or total number of offers available in a promotion campaign. If you get an error message such as “you have exceeded your household limit” or “this coupon is no longer available”, it’s likely you’ve encountered such limit(s).
